AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE 2018 INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE AND AMENDMENTS AND ADDITIONS THERETO AND FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
Be it ordained by the Lawrence County Commission that:
Section 7. Amendments, Additions and deletions to the 2018 International Fire Code
The following sections and subsections of the 2018 Fire Code adopted in this article shall be amended, added, or deleted as follows. All other sections or subsections of the 2018 Fire Code shall remain the same.
Section 505.1 Address Identification. New and Existing buildings shall be provided with approved address identification. The address identification shall be legible and placed in a position that is visible from the street or road fronting the property. Address identification characters shall contrast with their background. Address numbers shall be Arabic numbers or alphabetical letters. Numbers shall not be spelled out. Each character shall not be less than 4 inches (102mm) high with a minimum stroke width of ½ inch (12.7mm). Where required by the fire code official, address identification shall be provided in additional approved locations to facilitate emergency response. Where access is by means of a private road and the building cannot be viewed from the public way, a monument, pole or other sign or means shall be used to identify the structure. Address identification shall be maintained.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that said amendment will be heard by the Lawrence County Commission at the County Commission Room, 90 Sherman Street, Deadwood, South Dakota on the 21st day of January 2020 at 9:45 a.m. to hear and consider such amendment.
Any person interested in the approval or rejection of such ordinance may appear and be heard or file with the Lawrence County Planning and Zoning Administrator a written statement of approval or disapproval.
