The Lawrence County Communications Center is a public safety answering point serving as the community's first line of contact with public safety authorities of Lead, Deadwood, Whitewood, Saint Onge and Nemo. Outlying areas around Spearfish are also serviced. We answer both 911 and non-emergency requests for law enforcement, fire and Emergency Management Systems (EMS) and dispatch emergency responders for the sheriff's offices, police departments, fire departments and EMS agencies.

Our staff is highly trained and all telecommunicators are certified through the State of South Dakota. All telecommunicators are also certified through the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch to give life-saving instructions during a medical call. Continuing education is a priority and every telecommunicator will complete more than 40 hours of training every 2 years.
